Practical, fun tool for parents raising kids. Encourages obedience motivated by God’s love and grace.
Part of the Training Young Hearts series.
Fun lift-the-flap board book that motivates small children to use their feet in a Christ-like way.
This helpful and engaging training tool will help parents to teach their kids that God didn’t make their feet to kick or stomp but for positive actions like running, dancing, swimming and jumping!
Not only will children be encouraged to follow Jesus’ example but they’ll also be reassured that he loves us no matter what we do. He can forgive us when we fail and help us to change.
Parents, teachers and other loved ones can refer back to these resources when specific behaviours need both to be corrected and to be connected to forgiveness, grace and growth.

I am incredibly excited about these new books from Abbey Wedgeworth. Engaging, helpful, and full of truth, these books are sure to become a favorite in your home!
One of the most important ways we can train young children is to teach them what is right as well as teach them what is wrong. In the Training Young Hearts series Abbey Wedgeworth faithfully shows children how to live while also telling them the good news of God’s grace. These board books are such an engaging (and fun!) way to teach big truths to young hearts.
The Training Young Hearts board books will help parents encourage positive behavior through one of the most effective methods of learning—play! These engaging books will not only instruct kids but parents too, by equipping both with training refrains based in biblical truths. Abbey has provided us with an incredible tool to help us clearly and intentionally communicate with our kiddos in a way that points to them to Jesus.
Thank you @thegoodbookcompanyusa for a #gifted copy.
I’m excited to share this new children’s book with you. With flaps scattered throughout, and it being a board book, it’s a cute one for young kids and toddlers.
It’s a fun story that exemplifies how we can use our feet for God, and had so many great examples. Though I thought one part may have been just a hair advanced for littles, overall I thought it was a great book with fantastic examples.
I loved how it all pointed to God, and encouraged kids to use their feet for his purpose. I thought it was fun and had a great message!
Check it out if you’re looking for a Christian book for your toddler. I’m excited to read it with my kids, and to collect the whole series!
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book, received from @thegoodbookcompanyusa . However, all thoughts and views reflected are strictly my own opinions.
Abbey's "Training Young Heart" series has been such a great blessing to our family and church! I love reading Abbey's training refrains and wise words on Instagram. Her books have been enjoyed not only by my toddler, but also my 5 and 7 year olds, and even ourselves as parents - the scenarios and struggles are relatable, but at the same time the hope we can have in Jesus to find forgiveness and help to change is immensely encouraging! This series is such a wonderful resource to equip parents and teachers to disciple children in the ways of the Lord. I cannot recommend these books enough!
We love this series for giving away at church and for building a library for our future children too. They’re so clearly speaking of the gospel and are perfectly pitched for the youngest readers too. This newest volume is a lovely addition and there are some great “open the flap” features in this one. Would definitely recommend!
These lift-the-flap books are SO practical and always tie in the gospel message, making them some of our most favorite board books for littles!
This book encourages children to use their feet to run, dance, swim and jump! But it also shares how Jesus calls us to use our feet to spread his good news.
This series has been so useful in addressing certain behaviors in our home as it simply conveys what our body parts should and shouldn’t be used for.
So grateful for this series!
I received a review copy of this book. All opinions are my own.
"Jesus did not run away from God's plan but walked toward his death because he loves me!" Four Reasons I Love this series:
(1) It's reminds my kids they are made by God! (2) It gives a contrast of positive and negative behaviors with a quick correction. (3) It points them to Christ! (4) It teaches repentance! And this one reminds them of the Great Commission:
"My feet were made to carry the good news about Jesus everywhere I go!" HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
With a toddler in our house this book has come in handy MANY times. Teaching our little ones is tough, especially those toddler years. I love this book for teaching my son how to use his feet to bring glory to Jesus! It’s wonderful to teach lessons to our youngest about how they can use their bodies to worship.
I’m so thankful for this beautiful book that helps me as a mama teach even my youngest about how to follow Jesus.
He loves the lift the flap and shows me the mad faces and how we can make them happy again! It’s a sweet book to have on your shelf.
We just love this series!! It’s just perfect for my toddlers, both in book design and in content it teaches.
Using simple language, each book communicates deep truths about the purpose God has made various parts of our bodies for - to glory Him and show love to others!
In a unique way, it shows how we do not fulfill God’s design perfectly but how Jesus did on our behalf. And so when we fail, we turn to Him for forgiveness. Even in simplicity, I am struck with the beauty of the gospel it communicates.
As a parent, I am so thankful for resources that help support our goal to point our kids towards the wonderful of Christ.
Thank you to the Good Book Company for the gifted copy in exchange for an honest review. Thoughts and opinions are entirely my own.
I have two toddlers who enjoy read alouds. They absolutely love this book, especially with the pop art, it made it more interactive. It made my mama heart so happy to know they were learning more about Jesus 💜
First, the book talks about what to do with your feet then what not to do, then teaches the child that Jesus was human and had feet and used them to obey God with the Holy Spirit's help, just like the child can do! Each body part book repeats this same formula, with every page requiring a lifting of the flap, and examples that are natural child tendencies. I am especially fond of the examples of how the child is NOT to use that body part, as the examples are natural impulsive responses and what you see when you work with a child from a hard place or trauma.
Are these books immensely creative and entertaining for the reader? No. But are they developmentally appropriate for the intended audience? Why yes they are. Will the format, style, and questions/answers appeal to the child who listens? Yes, they will. The images are warm, friendly, and simple, and will appeal to young children, and the book will lend easily to re-reading, and a child reading alone. This is the best kind of book for this stage.
Will people understand or misunderstand the concept of sin, as implied by other reviewers? I do not think it is a problem. I see this as a tool to train young hearts in how to use their bodies and in the basic concepts of faith from the youngest age.
I requested this book to review as I had already purchased some for our church nursery, on my own and I wanted to review this fifth book to share my honest opinion.
Another addition to the Training Young Hearts series. This series includes several books already such as What Are Mouths For?, What Are Eyes For?, What Are Ears For?, What Are Hands For?. We have had the privilege of reading all these books for littles and they are absolutely wonderful.
Wedgeworth uses the lift-the-flap method to engage the tiniest readers about the purpose of their feet. Beginning with very basic, practical ways we all use our feet such as biking, running and dancing. She then introduces the Gospel, recounting what Jesus did with His feet to accomplish His purpose given by God the Father. She also touches on the power of the Holy Spirit in using our feet the way God intends us to use them.
The illustrations are beautiful and engaging. The story is written simply for even the littlest ones to understand.
It seems some of the other reviews mention the exclusion of the resurrection. I would agree that this would be a crucial part to include in the story of the Gospel. Without the resurrection, the Gospel is no longer the Gospel.
All in all, this is another great book for young readers to learn the basics of why God created them.
