Fighting the Monday Feeling

O LORD, you are my God;
I will exalt you and praise your name, for in perfect faithfulness
you have done marvelous things,
things planned long ago.
(Isaiah 25 v 1)

So much to praise God for: His faultless faith; the incredible things He's done; His perfect plans.

Whoever has my commands and obeys them, he is the one who loves me. He who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love him and show myself to him. (John 14 v 21)

The moon will be abashed, the sun ashamed; for the LORD Almighty will reign on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem, and before its elders, gloriously. (Isaiah 24 v 23)

What a glorious prospect: The Lord ruling his restored people. And with such a brightness that the sun and moon blush at how feeble they are in comparison.

In that day the Root of Jesse will stand as a banner for the peoples; the nations will rally to him, and his place of rest will be glorious. (Isaih 11 v 10)

King Jesus will gather His people from all ends of the earth. What an incredible picture of the future for God's people. And the future has already begun. Jesus already rules over His church — Christians everywhere. But His reign isn't total yet. One day, Jesus will return to rule over all creation. His people will live with Him in perfection.

Then Jesus cried out, “When a man believes in me, he does not believe in me only, but in the one who sent me. When he looks at me, he sees the one who sent me. I have come into the world as a light, so that no one who believes in me should stay in darkness. (John 12 v 44–46)

For the LORD gives wisdom, and from his mouth come knowledge and understanding. He holds victory in store for the upright, he is a shield to those whose walk is blameless, for he guards the course of the just and protects the way of his faithful ones.
- Proverbs 2 v 6-8

The people walking in darkness have seen a great light;
on those living in the land of the shadow of death a light has dawned.

Isaiah 9 v 2

A new light will dawn for God's troubled people. Their distress will turn to joy; cruelty and war will end. God will be their King again, bringing peace and justice.

Engage with 2 Thes 1 v 11-12.

With this in mind, we constantly pray for you, that our God may count you worthy of his calling, and that by his power he may fulfill every good purpose of yours and every act prompted by your faith. We pray this so that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and you in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Paul wants Christians to stick at serving God so that God gets the glory He deserves.

A great truth to ease you into your week.

My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish. John 10 v 27-28
