Frantic Friday?

It’s Friday! Are you rejoicing? You should be, according to Paul…
9 Since, therefore, we have now been justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God. 10 For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life. 11 More than that, we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.
(Romans 5:9-11, ESV)
- What, does Paul remind us, has Christ already done?
- What can we therefore be sure Christ will do?
What are the signs of rejoicing in your friendship (reconciliation) with God, through the justification Christ has won you?
Here are four:
- Your mind is deeply satisfied with the doctrine of justification by faith. You enjoy thinking and speaking about it.
- When you discover in yourself a new flaw, the discovery doesn’t make you doubt God’s love; instead, it makes his grace more precious to you.
- When you sin, you don’t try to excuse your performance, or make up for it. You know your best wouldn’t merit acceptance by God, and your worst does not jeopardise it.
- When you face death, you do so calmly, because you are going to a Friend.
- Use these four signs of rejoicing to thank God for justifying you; and then pray that your outlook and life would display these signs more and more.
